A Case of Priapism Treated by Cavernospongiosum Shunt Procedure

Abstract
Priapism is a condition in which persistent erection occurs unaccompanied by sexual excitation or desire.
The patient was 29 year-old teacher. Priapism developed by trauma on 15 days prior to admission. The condition was not subsided by supportive measures including sedation, heparinization, administration of enzymes, and local irrigation with normal saline containing heparin.
On admission 8th day, cavernospongiosum shunt operation was performed. After the operation the penis was gradually becoming flaccid, and completely flaccid penis was noted on the postoperative 7th day. The patient was discharged from the hospital on the postoperative 14th day. After discharge the patient was checked at the O.P.D. weekly and erection of the penis recovered to normal on 2 months later.
